Image Gallery: NS Otto Hahn - Germany's Nuclear Powered Cargo Ship

Photograph of the MS Norasia Helga formerly the NS Otto Hahn

Image Description

This is a rare photograph of the MS Norasia Helga, formerly the NS Otto Hahn, taken around 1985.

During the nuclear decommissioning, the forward superstructure was removed and relocated to the aft of the ship.

The MS Norasia Helga was renamed at least twice more. In 2008 it was operating as the MS Madre under Liberian registry.

The NS Otto Hahn is the only nuclear powered ship ever to be reconfigured to a conventional power plant or see use after its atomic career.
